The Marriott Del Mar was a lovely and cozy space for a silent auction and social to raise funds for the Del Mar Schools Education Foundation. The fire pits on the patio and yummy food (and great drinks of course) made it a great way to spend an evening. I really enjoyed meeting such a nice group of people and offering my 10 $500 Buy It Now portrait certificates for each $100 donation. I have a few more available through the end of November for families that want to support the school programs.

Tropical Setting for an Adorable Family
It was a beautiful summer day in San Diego and Paradise Point was a perfect spot to create a family portrait session for this amazing family. I love children's portraits at these ages...especially siblings. They still have a sense of whimsy and think adults, especially "Aunt Luci", are still pretty cool.

Casa De Amparo's Crystal Ball
Oh my, so much glitter and sparkle at the Casa de Amparo's Gala to support San Diego children and families affected by or at risk of child abuse or neglect. Fairbanks Ranch was gorgeous and the lighting by EventAVision added drama and beauty to the evening. The guests were dressed in glamour, lace and happy smiles as they enjoyed the evening, which included a lavish cocktail reception, impressive silent and live auctions, a gourmet dinner by Jeffrey Strauss of Pamplemousse Grille, and dancing to one of San Diego’s top local bands, Something Simple.
Thank you to the organizers for including my auction item of a portrait session and my photography in the event. It was a great evening!

Nine Girls Ask...All I Can Say is Wow!
This year's Nine Girls Ask Luncheon at the U.S. Grant Hotel in downtown San Diego was amazing. Over 600 attendees were there to support Joan and Dick Wylie (and the other 8 girls) in the organization's efforts to be a resource for women with Ovarian Cancer and to help find a cure. Joan said that while looking out on the audience from the stage she could feel this huge loving energy filling the room. I felt it too... for her, for the guests effected by this disease and everyone dealing with this condition. I loved being a part of this event. There were lots of great auction prizes, vendors and a wonderful lunch, naturally. Fabulous guitar music by Bill Coleman and the high powered singing by Trisha Kelly added so much to the festivities. Kelly's version of "This Girl's On Fire" to honor Joan as 2013 Woman of Inspiration gave me chills.
As in the past I offered my $500 Buy It Now portrait package for a $100 Donation and will continue to make this available through Oct 10th. You can contact me at 619-233-9390 or luci@lucidumas.com to arrange a session.

Gorgeous Evening at San Diego Botanic Garden
Okay, the vote is in and the Gala in the Garden was the most beautiful event I have volunteered to photograph recently. There were several areas with food, drinks, music, amazing flower arrangements by Rene Van Rems through out the gardens...each area prettier and more fun than the one before. As the sun set the event was bathed in golden light and there was a gloreous display of colors in the sky. Then at dusk the lights began to come on and candles were lit the scene changed into a wonderland. Wow!
Although at Luci Dumas Fine Photography I specialize in portraits of children, families, couples and graduates I love to photograph events that support amazing non-prophet organizations as well as donate my "Buy It Now" portrait certificates. I offered a $500 portrait package for a $100 donation to the garden and will extend that offer through the end of September. My contact info is 619-233-9390 or luci@lucidumas.com
Thanks to Nancy Kelly for including me in this delightful evening!

Off to the Races with Boys and Girls Club of San Diegito
July 20th, 2013 was a tropical evening, warm with a nice breeze which was perfect for the Caribbean Nights theme at the Del Mar Racetrack. It was fun to photograph the guests who were decked out in bright colors, cool fabrics and big smiles as they enjoyed the food, silent auction and music provided by Wayne Foster.
The program included an award announced by Barbara Harper to Jill Coughlin as the Volunteer of the Year. Daisy Aguilar was awarded the Youth of the Year chosen from 10 great young people that attend the club and programs. Enough money was raised to sponsor 100 kids for a year in the program. Russ T Nailz brought his "comic styling" as the MC and I spotted a pirate or two lurking in the shadows.
Besides photographing the event, I offered a $500 portrait package with a $100 donation to BGCSD and am happy to extend this special through the end of August. Just contact me at 6191-233-9390 to arrange for this introductory session. CLICK HERE TO VIEW GALLERY

Make the Hope Happen Celebration at Fairbanks Ranch
I was delighted to again volunteer my photography at the annual dinner of the Moore's Cancer Center's Patient and Family Support Service. This is an intimate dinner to thank just a few of the many people who are a big part of Make the Hope Happen as well as sharing the latest news about MTHH. Here is the thank you card that describes the event and how to get involved as well as the images from the dinner. Thanks to Linda Holland for including me in this lovely evening

Clearity's "Someone Lived" 2013 Event
I feel so fortunate to have connected with the most lovely and committed group of people who are working to supporting women with ovarian cancer, improving treatment and helping to find a cure. The Clearity Foundation's yearly event was such a beautiful night and the passion for the work they are all doing is so obvious. Clearity was founded by Dr. Laura Shawver to help patients discover the best treatment options for their cancer.
Julie Crawford and her husband John were honored for her courageous journey with the disease and for his contribution as Co-Chair of the Clearity Board of Directors. I have to say she was just glowing in her gorgeous green hat she found in on a trip to England. Dr. Beth Karlan was honored for her contribution to the organization as well. Yummy food from The Pamplemousse Grill was a hit, and the music at the end of the evening gave the guests the opportunity to kick up their heals a bit. I am so grateful to have met this wonderful group of passionate advocates for women with this illness.

Love this session of a mom and her two beauties!
How can I not have fun and take some special images of these three gorgeous subjects? They were so willing to do whatever I asked and mom's favorite was the jumping image which really captured the spirit of her family.
