MS Gala at Beautiful Loew's Coronado

The theme was "Agents of Change" and over $500,000 was raised to help create change...a world free of MS. The views from the hotel were glorious but the guests in their evening attire were even more gorgeous.  I have not met a nicer group of volunteers and the attendees seemed to be having a great time while supporting this dream of an end to MS.

Even though my first love and business is creating beautiful portrait that become art in my client's homes and a part of their family legacy, I love volunteering for such wonderful events and offering my portraits in the silent auction as well. Thanks to Jessica for including me!

Eric and Claire finally tie the knot

It was such a special day in Laie on Oahu being with Kevin and Claire when, after 17 years, they decided to make it official. She has been a friend for 30 years and I was happy that she let me take some photographs of the wedding on the beach and a few posed portraits. The day at the Polynesian Cultural Center was also a blast with 25 of her friends and family.

Nine Girls Keep Asking

It was a special morning at the US Grant Hotel in San Diego when over 600 supporters of Nine Girls Asked, a non-profit dedicated to finding a cure for ovarian cancer, attended the annual luncheon and fund raiser. Susan Taylor MC'ed the program that celebrated women who have inspired others in their journey with this illness.

Joan Wyllie and the rest of her family (nine women and the men who love them) as well as a team of volunteers are asking for a cure for a disease that needs much more research and attention. Nine Girls also offers support and guidance for women who have been diagnosed with ovarian cancer.

I am always so honored to photograph the event and offer my portrait certificates to raise money for this wonderful organization.

Boys and Girls Club's African Safari

Youth-of-the-Year Gala, An African Safari Night

Any event that supports and celebrates kids living up to their potential is one I love to be involved with. This was a perfect evening at the Del Mar Racetrack with an African theme, including live animals, auction items, dancing, great food, horse racing, and fun attendees.

Congrats to Meliza Espinoza who was the 2014 overall youth of the year and Terry Lingenfelder who was Volunteer of the Year. I was happy to photograph the evening and donate gift certificates to the silent auction as well.

Clearity Foundations 3rd Annual "Someone Lived" Event

I think The Clearity Foundation has a special connection to the weatherman because it was a gorgeous evening, as usual, for this special evening designed to celebrate survival, hope and progress in changing the odds for women with ovarian cancer. The food by The Pamplemousse Grill was delicious (of course). The event honored Dr Michael Pellini, the Eide Family, and Nancy Hunter. To find out more about Clearity you can view their website at http://www.clearityfoundation.org/

Though I primarily photograph children and families at Luci Dumas Fine Photography, I love volunteering for events that help support those in need of healing and hope.

Kid's Turn San Diego is "Raising Humans"

June 21st was a lovely evening to raise funds for Kid's Turn San Diego with a silent auction and a one woman show by Ann Marie Houghtailing called Raising Humans. With a mission of “promoting, supporting and securing the well-being of children experiencing the challenges of family separation”, they help children and families experiencing separation, divorce and military transitions. It was so nice to meet the organizers and attendees of the event and donate to the auction. You know I am in favor of helping children any time and anywhere! I had a schedule conflict so was unable to attend the play which was disappointing because I am a big fan of Ann Marie.

Was is Rio or Einstein Academy's Gala?

Colorful, festive and fun…that is how I would describe the "A Night in Rio" Gala put on by the Friend's of Einstein Academy. There was an abundance of auction items, art created by the classes, food, drinks and great guests at this June 7th event. I must say that this group seems to have a lot to talk about and laugh about all night long. Everyone seemed to have a great time.

Once again I donated my photography services and 10 Buy it Now Family Portrait Sessions which is a $500 voucher for a $100 donation to Einstein's that evening. There are a few left so I will extend this opportunity through the end of June. Contact me at 619-233-9390 if you are ready for special portrait session that will benefit a great school.

South Park Grape Street Dog Park

Had some fun at the South Park/ Grape Street Dog Park tutoring a photography student wanting to improve her pet photography. Lots more dogs are included in family portraits lately so it was great to spend some time with them. Since I specialize in Children's Portraits, Pet Photography of the"furry kids" fits that category.

Hawaiian Paradise in Del Mar

I almost thought I was in Hawaii at the Del Mar Hilton on Sunday. It was actually a gala for the Parent Connection but the music, the flower leis and the Hawaiian dresses worn by the guest made it seem like a lovely day on the islands.  There was a ukulele player, chair massages and other fun activities. During lunch there was Hula by Huapala "Sweetheart" Dancers.

Though Family Portraits and Children's Photography are my specialty, I enjoy volunteering to photograph and offer my gift certificates for auctions at events like these. I always meet lots of great people. Thanks Renee Zau for including me!

Fun with Models

I had the privilege of spending the day with a very special and dear man, Arthur Rainville. He is an amazing photographer, teacher and human.

Here are some of my favorite images created by me during the workshop. Gorgeous models make it easy.
